Family Splash Pad Guide | Brooklyn Water Feature Playgrounds by Neighborhood
The summer months alternate between feelings of glee and feelings of humid misery. Fortunately, a good splash pad can be a solution for both of those.
If it’s a place I’ve personally visited, I put an 🍎 before the name and description.

Read my post on the Top 5 Brooklyn Splashpads.
Bedford-Stuyvesant Splash Pad Playgrounds
🍎 Herbert Von King Park: This is a nice big park with a lot to offer- basketball, playground, amphitheater, and tables.
Brooklyn Heights Water Features
Surprisingly, there isn’t a splash pad in prime Brooklyn Heights at all. Pierrepont notably lacks this feature. Head to Walt Whitman Park in Cadman Plaza or the options in Brooklyn Bridge Park for the closest fountains to cool off.
🍎 Pier 2 Water Fountain: This isn’t listed on the traditional map but is a fun surprise. It’s probably not a destination on it’s own but it’s a fun surprise in addition to another activity nearby!
🍎 Walt Whitman Park: This is a fountain-only play area (no other playground equipment) over concrete. My dog used to love running through this fountain on hot days, and you may see other dogs who take the same path.
🍎 Water Lab @ Pier 6 Brooklyn Bridge Park: This is a mystical wonderland of play. Sure it gets busy but
Carroll Gardens Water Fountains for Kids
Mother Cabrini Park (technically Columbia Street Waterfront but close enough to include here.)
🍎 St Mary's Playground: St Mary’s has excellent shade because it’s built under the BQE overpass. The sprinklers are a nice complement, and there are play areas for children of various ages as well as basketball courts. The only downside of this space is that there are no restrooms.
Clinton Hill Splash Pads
🍎 Crispus Atticus Playground: Pretty Large Playground with various play zones and restrooms!
Cobble Hill Playgrounds with Water
It’s kind of crazy that within the actual confines of Cobble Hill, there is not one splash pad. My friends who live here mostly head to Water Lab at Pier 6.
🍎Van Voorhees Playground: Good-sized playground with diverse offerings and bathrooms. Because It’s so close to Pier 6 (a major draw) it is typically not as crowded.
Crown Heights Things to Do with Kids
🍎 Brower Park: There are great shady benches here. This playground, in proximity to the Children’s Museum, has a lot to offer!
🍎 Stroud Playground: This playground features a particularly impressive water element for younger children. It’s low to the ground and seperated by a fence for the fountain for bigger kids- I highly recommend for the newly walking and toddler set!
Downtown Brooklyn Splash Pads
🍎 Abolitionist Place: This is a small feature and a small park. It’s great if you’re in the area, but it’s not a destination playground or splash pad.
McLaughlin Park: For what it’s worth I wouldn’t really consider this Downtown Brooklyn, it’s kind of a noman’s land in between Navy Yard, Dumbo, and DB. Surprised a developer has rebranded it yet!
🍎 Sixteen Sycamores Playground: This playground has a lot of shade!
Dumbo Family Spots
🍎 Main Street Playground: This pirate ship playground is really fun but one to avoid at peak heat times. The fountain is just one apparatus and fairly small as well.
Fort Greene Playgrounds with Splash Pads
Cuyler Gore Playground: This playground is under construction as of July 2025
🍎 Fort Green Playground: This option at the North West part of the park has a big kid and little kid sprinklers. With a lot for everyone and a bathroom, this is a great meetup spot!
Fort Greene Playground South: This is a great tot lot style type of playground that is great for kids 3 and under, especially.
Oxport Playground: This location is more Navy Yard than Fort Greene.
🍎 South Oxford Park: Kind of a small water fountain but unique how it comes out of the flowers.
Park Slope Playgrounds with Water Feature
🍎 Harmony Playground: This playground is undergoing a massive upgrade. A small portion is open but most of it is closed.
🍎 J.J Byrne Playground: My family loves this playground and the diverse water feature. I do caution that it has very little shade midday in peak summer months.
🍎 Park Slope Playground: I really like this playground but the splash pad is small relative to the crowds there. Also harder for younger kids (under 3 years old).
Prospect Heights Family Splash Pads
🍎 Dean Playground: This water fountain is a bit small. It can be nice because it doesn’t get as crowded as other spots, though.
🍎 Mount Prospect Park Playground: This is currently one of our favorites because there is a lot to do close by. My children (4 and 8) want different things at the playground, and they can always agree on this one.
🍎 Pacific Park: This google listing is confusing but there is a great water fountain behind 550 Vanderbilt and Chelsea Piers Fitness. It gets quite windy and has lots of seating for adults.
🍎 Underhill Playground: (Don’t be fooled by the listing as James Forten Playground.) The highlight here is the toys which kids play with in the water. It will entertain for hours and there is pretty good shade for adults close by too.
Prospect Lefferts Gardens Water Features
🍎 Lefrak Center Splash Pad: This is one of the best splash pads in Brooklyn. It’s great for kids of all ages and has nice seating and restrooms.
Red Hook Water Playground
Williamsburg Water Fountains
Berry Playground (I believe under construction as of July 2025)
🍎 Domino Playground: These fountains are charming and fun. They are a good bit further south than the actual playground- I couldn’t find a good pin directly to the fountains.
Windsor Terrace/Greenwood Splash Pads
I am a Brooklyn Mom. I help families with where to wake up on Saturday Mornings and how to spend them.
I love exploring everything the city has to offer with my children. (Now 4 & 7 years old.) I work full-time as a real estate agent at Corcoran, and if you’re exploring a move, curious about what your home could sell for, or intimidated as a first-time home buyer, let’s grab coffee!
